A look at 2013. A Big first year!
What and eventful first year at the pottery! I want to thank my family for all their love and support in this first year, and giving me the time I needed to develop my designs and get "on my feet." Highlight of this past year include of course, moving into the beautiful Cathedral Park Place studio and establishing it as a hub of creative energy and peace.
The highlight of 2013 was traveling to Arkansas to attend the Heritage Poultry Conservancy's workshop and meet a man I greatly admire, P. Allen Smith of, A Garden Home. The workshop took place at his home, Moss Mt. Ranch. If you have a love of poultry, gardens and really living in the outdoors, there is no more inspiring place to be then at Moss Mt. Ranch. A trip I hope to repeat in the feature.
Last but not least! The year I was honored with a mention on the talented author and blogger Terry Golson's blog. If you enjoy chicken themed children's literature I recommend you check out her book, "Tilley Lays an Egg" , it's a favorite of my son's and mine. You can also visit her HenCam to see her literary inspiration in action.
In the spring of this year, just in time for coop planning and new chicks! My pottery was first featured in Chickens magazine and later in Urban Farm magazine. After establishing a relationship with these publications I then ran ads in both Poultry World magazine and a full page add in Grit magazine a branch of Mother Earth News magazine.
This exposure has gone a long way toward getting my pottery out there to our nations poultry community.
Shortly after my visit to Moss Mt. Ranch, I became affiliated with the website MyPetChicken.com and am happy to say that folks are now able to purchase my chickenwares, through their site.
